Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
